Hey there! My name is Aly Khalifa (Arabic: علي خليفة: born 26 October 1993) and I am an Egyptian video game developer, movie editor, businessman (not really) and music enthusiast. The only reason I'm writing this is because it felt like a cathartic enough idea to summarize who I think I am in the form of a Wikipedia article, so feel no need to actually read it. I would, however, be very interested to know what you thought if you actually manage to get through the whole thing.

Born and raised in Giza, Egypt, I attended the Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule (or DEO), got my Abitur degree and then moved to Germany to study computer engineering at the University of Stuttgart. After that, I came home and pursued a different degree, studying Business Information Systems at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport while working for the localization firm, Loc & More. After acquiring my Bachelor's degree, I continued working for the firm, for which I am currently the Client Relations Manager and in charge of the company's new game development branch.

Early life[edit]

Childhood[edit]

I was born in Giza to Egyptian parents, Fahmy Khalifa and Riham Abuheram on October 26, 1993. My father initially worked at a manufacturing company, heading several departments in charge of production and my mother was a travel service agent. By the time my brother, Youssef, was born in 1996, they had both transitioned into different jobs. My father moved to two other firms before launching his own and my mother became a teacher at my middle school, before getting a management position at a school on the other side of town. Not long after, she decided to become a stay-at-home mom.

Our home was always bilingual, regularly switching between Egyptian Arabic and Modern English mid-sentence. After joining the DEO at age 9, it was not long before my friends and I began switching between three languages; Arabic, English, and German.

We were raised in a Muslim home, but the rules in our house were always more liberal than families of similar backgrounds. We were always encouraged to do what we believed was right, regardless of the social and/or religious implications. As our father would always say "If you genuinely believe it's the right thing to do, then it's the right thing to do for you."
