Her father was a company director and her mother a sociologist who later became an art critic; one of her uncles is a painter. She studied journalism and communication at the Brazilian University of Gama Filho.[3] She appeared in commercials before starting to model at the age of 16 in Brazil and posing for fashion magazines. While traveling in Milan, a hairdresser friend in São Paulo advised her to cut her hair.[4] With this new haircut, her international modelling career took off, being represented by the modelling agencies Delphine, Zen and Neo for famous houses like Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel or Dior.[2] She arrived in Europe in 1985 after being spotted by a Spanish agency. She gave her last show to the French fashion designer Marc Bohan.

In 2002, Cristina Córdula opened her image consulting agency Cristina Córdula - Agency of Makeover in Paris where she had moved.[3]

In parallel with her job as an image consultant, contacted by M6, she arrived on the channel in October 2004, where she was coach with Émilie Albertini in the show Nouveau look pour une nouvelle vie, broadcast in the second half of the evening and hosted by Véronique Mounier.[2] From 2008 to 2011, she co-hosted the show with Émilie Albertini and since 2012 she has hosted it alone. She is also the author of a book on image consulting published by Larousse in 2008: Toutes les femmes sont belles. She has since released several books: Les 50 règles d’or du relooking and Le guide du relooking in April 2010, Guide pratique du relooking and Guide pratique du relooking- Spécial rondes in March 2012.[2]

On April 29, 2011, for M6, she commented upon the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton together with Emmanuel de Brantes and Nathalie Renoux.[5]. Since 2011 she has been hosting the show Magnifique by Cristina! on Téva.
