Thomas Francis Davis new article content ... Thomas Francis Davis was born on 8 May 1853 in New York. He attended the United States Military Academy and graduated in the class of 1875. He was well disciplined in school, and average in his studies, graduating thirty-six out of forty-three in his class. After graduation Davis was commissioned as a second lieutenant the 15th Infantry, serving on frontier duty until 1890. He served in the Ute expedition in Colorado in 1879 while stationed at Fort Lewis. In September and October of 1880 he served in New Mexico against the Apaches while stationed in Fort Cummings. During the Spanish-American War, he commanded a battalion of the 15th Infantry in Cuba. Davis married Paulina Hart Sequiros on May 12, 1886 in El Paso, Texas. Hart was the daughter of a prominent miller in El Paso. During the Spanish-American War, he commanded a battalion of the 15th Infantry in Cuba. In 1899 Davis was a collector of customs in Santiago de Cuba. He was then in charge of general recruiting in St. Louis, Missouri. Davis served as military secretary and adjutant general by detail in 1905 at the headquarters of Department of Colorado. He then governed the Lanao district of the Mindano province in the Philippines in 1909, where he served three tours of duty. Retrieved on June 1, 2018. </ref> On 16 May, 1913, Davis was promoted to brigadier general and given command of the fifth Infantry brigade, second division, at Galveston, Texas. From 1913-14 he commanded the sixth Infantry brigade at Texas City, Tx., Waco, Tx., and Douglas, Arizona. From there Davis proceeded to command the Arizona District and 3rd Provisional infantry division in Douglas, Az. until he retired on May 8, 1917. He died at the age of 82 on December 10, 1935, in El Paso, Texas. He was survived by a son and a daughter.
