Burhan Rasool

Burhan Rasool, an alumnus of FAST. Rasool is an e-Governance expert working with Government of Punjab, Pakistan, heading the Software Engineering Wing at Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB)[1]. He received the Innovation Hero Award from the Chief Minister Punjab, for his role in developing the (smartphones based) Monitoring Platform that helped a great deal in controlling the dengue epidemic in 2012. The same platform is being used widely in multiple public offices of Punjab to monitor their Field Staff. Burhan has also served as the Project Director ‘Computerization of Police Stations in Punjab’. This project became a remarkable success story of use of technology in a Government Department. The systems developed for Punjab Police were later replicated in Sindh and Balochistan. In August 2016, he was honored with Young Development Leader Award by (Federal) Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan for his contributions in public sector reforms through technology. His introduction of evolutionary software engineering methodology to Civil Servants through in-house development team is attributed to have been a major contributor in unprecedented adoption of technology by Civil Servants in Punjab. He is currently focused on deployment of Seibel based Case Flow Management System at the Lahore High Court. In September 2018, he was selected by the Prime Minister of Pakistan in his Task Force on Austerity & Restructuring Government[2][3]
