Close N Play was a children's phonograph, designed and manufactured by Kenner toy company from the late 1960s, through the 1970s. Its design was such that it enclosed the record entirely while playing, with the tonearm and needle contained in the lid of the record player. Kids would simply place a record on the platter, and close the lid, which both starts the record turning and puts the needle in contact with the record. And conversely, opening the turntable's lid will stop the record turning, and lift the needle from the record.
