Chullo

Chullo is a hat with earflaps, made out of different types of wool and in different types of styles. The Andean culture uses these hats to stay warm in their cold regions. The Andean people live in the Andean Mountain region which is extremley cold and so there are ties on the hat for underneath the chin so the wearer can be more warm.

Chullo Styles

Multiple types of Chullos with different colors and designs.

The Chullo has been apart of the Andean culture for centuries. The different colors and decorations of the hat have been worked with and displayed in fashion shows. These different colors and decorations also speak life to who is wearing the hat. These hats are not just simple hats. They are complex and fun. They are useful and warm. They are unique and newly popular due to tourists and their interest in these Chullos.

Origins

The Chulo had did originate in the Andean Mountains, however, there has been a large Spain influence. The Andean's produce them and are credited for the additional earflaps, while the Spanards take pride in the hats themselves. These hats are worn as symbolizing the land of which the people are from and to symbolize their pride in their culture.

Production

The hats are widely produced and have many factories where they are produced at. However, the best places to get the best hats would be in the original production places (where the hats have been produced since ancient times). These hats started from the ideas from Spain and the people of the Andean Mountains added their own twist with the earflaps and now there are many warehouses that have these hats in all different styles and colors for all different cultures.
