Problem[edit]

Multiple IPs from Karnataka inserting false population figures, some up, some down:- From 08 March 2020 also started falsifying film gross figures

Pattern[edit]

  • Initially pairs of edits, later triples, with final edit a space or other trivial edit, presumably to try and hide the earlier figure changes
  • Often lazy changes such as changing 262,340 to 340,613 by deleting the first 3 digits and adding 3 digits to the end [1]
  • Often changes the total, but not the males and females, so the figures do not add-up [2]
  • Sometimes also changes population density figures
  • Sometimes starts doing "good" edits, when they know their bad edits have been spotted - e.g. after a warning has been issued
