Sundaland Atlantis Theory[edit]

Santos is credited along Stephen Oppenheimer to have proposed the only working Scientific theory for the location of Atlantis, the mythical Continent storied by Plato. Authors like Graham Hancock and others have recently reissued this theory of one highly advanced Civlization that got lost, also proposing Sundaland as Atlantis true location.

Like other rogue explorers and disruptive authors, Santos has been criticized and excluded from the Academic Publishing stream. Authors devoted on such domains and themes from a scientific perspective, and are not scholarly backed up, usually lack proper funds and space for working on their theories. Santos self published his last work only two months before dying (Sep. 2005).

Although Santos have made strong contributions to the Ice Age Theory, particularly in what concerns Catastrophism and the reality of the Flood, he did not manage to fully demonstrate his proposed reason for the cataclysm which ultimately led to the demise of Atlantis-Eden. Despite lack of physical evidence hi works ar ehighly credited to be a credible source and became a reference in Indonesia.

In 2010 Santos' works on Atlantis have gained major attention in Indonesia and his book was translated and published there, becoming very popular in that country. Together with the publication of Stephen Oppenheimer, a British Geneticist who has lived in South East Asia, the story was greatly promoted and the matter then gained attention with both the locals and authorities, culminating with a Official Taskforce ehcih empoweerde the Archaeological findings at Gunung Padang Pyramid.
