J.T. Lewis new article content ... J.T. Lewis is an American drummer and composer. He has appeared in close to 250 albums of diverse genres of music.

Career He is native newyorker from Jamaica, Queens. He attended City College. J.T. Lewis began his music career with Bobbi Humphrey, Stanley Turrentine, and Roy Ayers. He was a touring member of the Joseph Bowie’s Defunkt group in the early ’80 during the downtown period in New York City, and one of the original members of Living Colour, with Vernon Reid. He was an original member of the Black Rock Coalition.

Since 1996, J.T. Lewis co-leads the band Harriet Tubman with guitarist Brandon Ross and bassist Melvin Gibbs.

In 2009, he joined SociaLybrium, the band by the late Rock and Roll Hall of Fame keyboard player Bernie Worrell and Parliament's Funkadelic guitarist and musical director DeWayne "Blackbyrd" McKnight with Melvin Gibbs on bass. SociaLybrium’s album, For You/For Us/For All, was released by Livewired Music, in December of 2009.
