National Coalition on Television Violence (NCTV) was an American lobbying group that was active during the 1980s.

1984 study of music videos[edit]
NCTV Bestseller Study 1905-1988[edit]
A study of best selling books from 1905 to 1988. Undertaken “to determine whether there has been an increase in violent themes in bestseller books during the 20th century.”
The study[1] examined nearly 800 books, taking three years and costing over $8,000. Instead of reading the books involved, reviews of the books published in the Book Review Digest, an annual publication by R.R. Bowker, were used.
The study also compared book cover art and blurbs with the contents of the book.[2]
