R Automobile (Chinese：飞凡汽车) is a Chinese EV auto manufacturer.

Overview[edit]

R Automobile is a high-end pure electric car brand launched by SAIC[1]. R focus on visual manifestation of Integrated Intelligence design philosophy, the brand is also a new starting point for SAIC’s electrification road. Its ER6 and MARVEL R were released on August 13, 2020 and February 7, 2021[2].

Founder: Xiaoqiu Wang (王晓秋). Wang is the vise president at Shanghai SAIC. Born in 1964.

Brand Summary[edit]

As a new starting point for SAIC Motor’s electrification road, under the trend of 5G technology and full-scale pure electrification, the R Automobile uses visual, tangible and sensible methods to return the design to its essence, a new retail model, and all comprehensive service. The service creates a connected community for the customers which also forms a welcoming brand culture. A similar approach to NIO that R is trying to be a lifestyle brand, not only providing a traveling experience, but also enhancing people's life. so with every trip with R, the customer can get the most from the experience.

ER6[edit]

The ER6 is the first long-distance intelligent networking pure electric family sedan under R Auto, which was unveiled on July 24, 2020[3] and launched on August 13, 2020. A total of three models were launched, namely, the 620km Smart Travel Edition, the 620km Smart Enjoy Edition and the 620km Extreme Edition. The official suggested price after subsidies is 162,800-200,800 yuan.[4] On June 21, 2021, the new mobile version of ER6 was officially launched. Three models of Zhixing(智行, literally meaning "smart moving"), Zhixiang(智享, literally meaning "smart enjoy"), and Zhizun(智尊, literally meaning "smart luxury"), were launched at the same time. and the national suggested retail price range after subsidies is 162,800-200,800 yuan.[5]

Exterior / Appearance: The new car adopts a new intelligent electric design concept called "Smart Design", an integrated panoramic canopy, and a traditional three-compartment structure. The new dynamic version of ER6 adopts a parametric active air intake system, vector matrix LED headlights, and a panoramic sky screen.[5]

Interior: Provides two interior colors of Cosmic Black (宙光黑) and Dolphin Blue, 14.3 inches 2.5D curved ultra-clear touch capacitive screen, 12.3 inches LCD interactive virtual instruments, etc., equipped with Internet car intelligent system 3.0-PRO, etc. [4] The new version of ER6 provides alcantara red and black two-color sports seats, with headrest R car logo stitching and black INS brushed door panels. Configuration: Equipped with SKYEYE sky eye system (which can use infrared light supplement technology to recognize face ID to start the vehicle). The new mobile version of ER6 upgrades the Zebra Zhixing Venus system which is a AI voice assistance[7] build in the vehicle that uses a high-performance six-core processor, AI Pilot intelligent driving assistance system and ALL-TIME SAFETY full-time active safety assistance system. [5]


Power: The car is equipped with the second-generation 8-layer Hair-Pin permanent magnet synchronous motor, and the maximum power is 135kW (184Ps), peak torque is 280N·m, and the official performance is 0-100km/h acceleration in 8.3 seconds. The ternary lithium-ion battery pack has an energy consumption of 12.2kWh/100km under NEDC operating conditions and a NEDC cruising range of 620km. [4]


Battery: NCM523 batteries are used, equipped with the BMS battery management system.

MARVEL R[edit]

The MARVEL R is the world's first full-cabin interactive 5G mass-produced vehicle under R Auto.[8][9] It is a electric SUV and has obtained a license for China's 5G terminal telecommunication equipment to operate in the network[10]. It was unveiled on May 10, 2020.[11] It was officially launched on February 7, 2021. A total of two models of the new car will be launched, with a subsidized price range of RMB 21,98 to 239,800. [11]


Exterior: The Marvel R has the proportions of a typical supercar SUV, showing the concept and style of "digital intelligence". The exterior front facia design continued the similar style from the ER6 but more luxurious and refined by replacing the main headlamp to pure LED. [12][13]

Dimensions: length, width and height 4674/1919/1618mm, wheelbase 2800mm.[11]


Interior: The futuristic central control layout highlights the positioning of the "5G smart electric SUV". It has a 19.4-inch large interactive interface and so on. [14][15]


Configuration: Equipped with leading three-electric technology (Chinese term of the three main technical categories that the nation needs to catch up with the world including: electric motor, battery, electronic control) and interactive technology, the Zebra Zhixing Venus system provides comprehensive travel experience. [16]


Power: The maximum power of the rear drive system is 186 horsepower, the peak torque is 410 N·m, the maximum power of the four-wheel drive is 302 horsepower, the peak torque is 665 N·m, and the acceleration is 4.8s from 0-100km/h. [13][11]


5G technology: The company obtained China's 5G terminal telecommunication equipment network access license and vehicle-mounted vehicle-level 5G/C-V2X terminal product certification. It is the world's first and currently the only 5G smart electric vehicle brand with "complete dual certificates" which are certificate of product using the 5G network and the 5G terminal certificate for automobile class. ES33[edit]

The ES33 is the first smart car based on R-TECH's high-energy smart body[18], defined as a new smart species[19], and will be delivered in 2022 [19]. The car is equipped with the full-stack self-developed high-end intelligent driving solution PP-CEM™, which has constructed an all-weather, all-scenario, trans-visual moment, and multi-dimensional "six-fold integrated perception system" (fully explained in the technology segment). [18]


Exterior: Adopting the design of "integrating intelligence and electric driving force", it interprets the exclusive design language of the new intelligent species from the three dimensions of "vitality", "intelligence" and "aerodynamic force". The front of the car presents a tendency to dive down, like a full and powerful "windward blade", just for the pursuit of the ultimate aerodynamic performance. Its iconic "potential energy line" design and "fiber matrix texture" are both dynamic and elegant. The symbolic design of the Galaxy Trail Blazers-swept-wing taillights and interstellar battleship wheels, release surging energy, showing a unique sense of quality and sense of future.[20]


Technology: ES33's sensors are all over the car's body, fully integrated with the body structure, delivering accessible intelligence. The super-symbol of R Zhidian-Huanyu's light belt runs through the front face, and is matched with the light-gathering particle position lamp, which demonstrates the advanced and mysterious temperament and releases an infinite sense of wisdom[20]. ES33 is equipped with PP-CEM™, the world's first high-end intelligent driving solution of R car, and it has built a "six-fold fusion type" that integrates lidar, 4D imaging radar, 5G V2X, high-precision map, vision camera, and millimeter wave radar. The system is set up for analysing the entire surrounding environment in depth and beyond visual range so it could provide safer driving experience.


Smart Space: ES33 is equipped with SAIC Zero Beam's "Galaxy Full Stack Solution", through AIoT smart hardware "plug and play", user third-party co-creation of the ecology, and continuous evolution of the smart engine, to bring users "thousands of thousands of faces" ", "Thousands of vehicles and thousands of faces" personalized experience. On the one hand, users can "play a car like a Lego", and on the other hand, they can drag and drop customized personalized scenes and subscription-based software services just like "car version of Minecraft".

PP-CEMTM[edit]

This is what the R automobile came up with their own research and development. PP-CEMTM stands for Pixel Point Cloud Comprehensive Environment Model. The sensors use up to 6 different technologies including laser lidar, cameras, GPS, 4D imaging lidar, 5G-V2X, and ultrasonic radar to provide better cognition. The PP-CEMTM uses Nvidia Drive AGX Orintm for computing.
