Benefits - Archives of objects (--> insurance, preventing theft, etc) - Eternal access (ICOM constit recommends museums to pass on exhibits to future generations in same quality as received) - Broader access (WWW has huge audience)

Emerging Issues - re-presenting objects (scale, texture, color, reproduction quality, etc.) - distribution/licensing/IP - artists' rights, permissions and royalties? - open nature of internet - foreign exports - funding issues - access (control?) - online exhibition v collections online (length of time, can't really delete from internet) - utilizing interactive/3-D capabilities - ethical? (purpose of online exhibit is largely to increase access to art, but these features may limit audience) - how do you maximize what is available online? (not all museums can afford it) Should you maximize or limit online content?
