'Herbert Wheeler Worthington' ( May 25, 1944 – November 4th, 2013) was a photographer, interior designer and antiques dealer, born and raised in South Central Los Angeles.
"Early Life" Herbert's father had several children with different women (whom he had married), and he was raised by his Mother until he was placed in foster care, resulting in a turbulent childhood and youth. However, starting from grade school on, he made friends for life and from his circle of friends, he started a shoe shine business with, Jimmy Vikse, when he was 8 years old and later, got into the music business through his friend, Buddy Miles and from there, went into photography.
Early Career Worthington was a friend and roommate of Buddy Miles through whom he met and was befriended by Jimi Hendrix and numerous other musicians (Mike Love, Arthur Lee, Gregg Allman, etc). Hendrix and Worthington shared a similar artistic eye and flair for interior design and fabrics. Worthington met Ron Raffaelli (Photographer) while with his friend, Arthur Lee (Love) on a shoot for Love's [insert album name here] at Raffaelli's Photography studio on Melrose Ave in Hollywood. They struck up a friendship and Rafaelli began to mentor Herbie as a photographer. Worthington began his album cover career by shooting his friends, Buddy Miles (Buddy Miles See All His Faces) and Arthur Lee (Vindicator). He was introduced to famed Fleetwood Mac publicist, Judy Wong (pre-Buckingham Nicks Fleetwood Mac) who began his relationship to Fleetwood Mac, and many other artists associated with them, most notably Stevie Nicks. Worthington's first album with Fleetwood Mac was the pre-Buckingham/Nicks 1974 album " Heroes Are Hard to Find ".
