Charlie Sonata is a Scottish play by playwright Douglas Maxwell. It made its world premiere at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh in April 2017.

Production history[edit]

Charlie Sonata is written by Scottish playwright Douglas Maxwell. In June 2015, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland premiered the play at the Tron Theatre, Glasgow.

In May 2016, it was announced it was announced the play would receive its professional world premiere in 2017, as part of David Greig's first season as artistic director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre company, and would begin previews at the Lyceum on 29 April 2017, with an official opening night on 2 May, booking for a limited period until 13 May. The play is directed by Matthew Lenton, with design by Ana Inés Jabares-Pita, lighting design by Kai Fischer and compositions by Mark Melville.
