The Double Dream of Spring is the fourth poetry collection by the American writer John Ashbery, published on February 7, 1970, by E. P. Dutton and Company.

Publication[edit]

E. P. Dutton and Company published the book in hardcover on February 7, 1970, with a list price of $4.95 (equivalent to about $30 in 2023, adjusted for inflation).[1] Publication of the first paperback edition followed on February 27 with a list price of $2.45 (about $15 in 2023). At different times, the publisher reported inconsistent quantities of the the first edition printing: it was either 1,600 hardcover copies and 2,050 paperback copies or, as reported later, 1,798 hardcover and 2,278 paperback.[2]
