Cocaine Bear is an upcoming American thriller film directed by Elizabeth Banks from a screenplay by Jimmy Warden.
Synopsis[edit]
The film is based on the real story of a 175-pound American black bear that according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation died after ingesting a duffel bag full of cocaine on December, 1985. The cocaine was dropped out from an airplane piloted by Andrew C. Thornton II, a corrupt narcotics officer who did it because he was carrying too heavy a load. The bear was found in northern Georgia among 40 opened plastic containers with traces of cocaine.[1][2]

On March 9, 2021, Universal Pictures announced that Elizabeth Banks would directed an film based on an true story that was written by Jimmy Warden. The film is produced by Banks, Max Handelman, Aditya Sood, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Brian Duffield.[3][4]
Filming[edit]
The film is expected to begin principal photography in the summer of 2021.[5]
