Omar Apollo

Omar Apollo, born Omar Velasco and the youngest of three siblings, is a Mexican-American singer/songwriter from Hobart, Indiana.[1]

He released his EP, titled Friends, on April 10, 2019.[2] The same day, Fader also premiered its documentary about Omar Apollo at the Chelsea Music Hall.[3]

Pitchfork described his music as having "underlying themes of longing and sweet defeat, and he cites James Blake’s haunted minimalism, the internet’s modern R&B, and Sly and the Family Stone’s vintage funk as musical guideposts."[4]

In April 2019, YouTube Music named him, along with others, to its Foundry international artist development program.[5]
