Deontez Alexander is an American Football player. He played wide receiver at a small liberal arts school in Franklin. Indiana for two seasons (2016 - 2017). Franklin College has roughly 1,100 students and competes at the DIII level in football. As a member of the Franklin Grizzlies, Alexander wore #1 where he caught 114 passes for 2,133 yards and 33 touchdowns across two seasons. He is currently signed with the Detroit Lions.

His hometown is listed as Indianapolis, Indiana and hails from Emmerich Manual High School or Washington High School.

As his college years began, it is reported that Alexander turned down an offer to play at Jacksonville (Florida) University in order to stay close to home to care for his ailing, single father.

Before Franklin College, Alexander spent two seasons at Anderson University - the one time home of the Indianapolis Colts training camp. While at Anderson, Alexander played wide receiver and wore #2. He transferred from Anderson University believing that the Franklin Grizzlies offense was a better fit for his skillset. At Anderson. He caught 49 passes for 933 yards and 14 touchdowns during his two seasons there, while also returning a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown.

Alexander was not invited to the 2018 NFL combine but rather attended the Ball State pro day on April 5, 2018 where he impressed. The small-school receiver prospect stole the show. Franklin College receiver Deontez Alexander ran under 4.4 twice in the 40-yard dash at 6-2 and 196 pounds, while also posting a 37.5″ vertical and 6.9-second finish in the three-cone.

He drew attention from 14 teams including the Colts, Lions, Browns, Dolphins, Ravens, Bears, Seahawks, Jags & 49ers. However he went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft.

As an undrafted free agent (UDFA), he worked out for the Baltimore Ravens before visiting the Detroit Lions. Impressed with his size, speed and talent - on May 14, 2018, the Detroit Lions signed Alexander to their 90 man roster. The terms were not disclosed. The wideout is considered a long shot to make an NFL final roster in 2018.
