Helicops trivittatus, commonly known as the Equatorial Keelback[1], is a species of Colubrid snake that is endemic to Brazil.[2]
Description[edit]
Little is known about this species. According to the type specimen, it is a small, slender-bodied snake with a small head and blunt nose. It can reach lengths of 540 mm (21 inches) long. It has a glossy black body with smooth scaling. The belly is pale yellow with three rows of even black spotting. Reportedly can have more brownish body with four yellow stripes with two on top of the back and two on the sides.
Range[edit]
Northern Brazil from about the Amazon River delta and Belém south to northeastern Mato Grosso and northern Goias.
Habitat[edit]
Aquatic species that is found in inland freshwater wetlands an Amazonian forests. [3]
Diet[edit]
Reportedly mainly on fish.
Reproduction[edit]
Viviparous snake that may have 7-8 young.
