Tulsa photos[edit]

Well, it's just that the main picture needs to show the whole skyline. There is actually a spot near Turkey Mountain park where there's a great elevated view of the skyline at a good angle. I think that's where the old night picture was taken, and I was going to try to get a picture there next time I'm in Tulsa. Okiefromokla complaints 00:22, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

More on the Mapits[edit]

The bit to which I was referring is found at the very bottom of the Guidelines page. Nyttend (talk) 23:07, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

The Mapit template causes the coords to display in the top right corner of the article. This issue was just discussed last month, with the current system (coords in several places, plus top of article) being considered appropriate. There's no reason that any individual community or a few communities have not to list these things, as long as it's appropriate for articles nationwide — and virtually all community articles nationwide have this format. Nyttend (talk) 23:39, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
All CDPs have articles that were created a few years ago, in the early days of Wikipedia, at the same time that cities and towns' articles were created: a bot account was sent through Census Bureau archives and created an article on every single municipality in the USA that was recorded by the Census. Unless you have pretty strong proof otherwise, you can assume that a community without an article is neither a municipality nor a CDP. A good source for Oklahoma municipalities and CDPs can be found at http://www2.census.gov/geo/maps/general_ref/cousub_outline/cen2k_pgsz/ok_cosub.pdf . There are similar maps, by the way, for all other states: simply replace the "ok" at the end of the link with the postal abbreviation for the state you want to look at. For detailed USGS information on a place, go to this website, the form for searching the GNIS. Nyttend (talk) 23:52, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
By the way, if you're creating articles on communities, it would be helpful if you added them to the county pages. I'm not complaining: just trying to let you know. Nyttend (talk) 03:23, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Missing image Image:GaylordHall.jpg[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:GaylordHall.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:GaylordHall.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:GaylordHall.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Verifiable Reference Links[edit]

Howdy there.

You added this link:

www.weather.gov/view/validProds.php?prod=PNS&node=KTSA

...As a reference to Picher, Oklahoma. But if you look at the link, it says nothing, zero, squat, nada. It is a non-REF. Need a verifiable one.

Photo[edit]

No problem. I noticed that Buaidh deleted some see also links with his edits and also merged the religion footnotes into references. I reverted the edits for reasons I say in my edit summary. Namely, as you mention, the lack of edit summaries or an explanation makes me a little baffled as to why the changes were done. Okiefromokla complaints 23:47, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I figured out what was done to the See Also section and restored Buaidh's version in that section. Okiefromokla complaints 23:58, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Removal of good faith edits on Oklahoma[edit]

I notice you removed the good faith edits of 72.56.172.242 on "Oklahoma" but in checking I found they are actually listed in reference #191 which already covers that list under the heading. (With the exception of the origin of the Oklahoma name). In addition, those same items are listed on the state website, and referenced to that same source. [1]Since it was a good faith edit, you might reconsider removing their work.Odestiny (talk) 22:33, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of David Kalb[edit]

A tag has been placed on David Kalb requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. CultureDrone (talk) 20:53, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

NSU[edit]

Thanks for your note about Northeastern State University. I added a mention of the branches mainly so I could add a link to NSU from the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma page. I don't have much personal knowledge about NSU, and I don't have a strong opinion on how much more information is appropriate to add regarding the branch campuses. When I had a chance I was going to verify and add the founding dates, enrollment (if available), and perhaps a note about subjects of major emphasis for each campus. Other than the official NSU website and perhaps some articles from the Tulsa World or other papers, I am not expecting to find many other sources. Any thoughts you have about this are of course welcome. Should we take this discussion to the NSU talk page in case anyone else is interested in digging up the info?--Arxiloxos (talk) 23:43, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

NRHP templates[edit]

You should drop a note at the project about the main template, at least. I think it's cool, and wonder why I didn't think of it. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 18:31, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

You're quite welcome. I may have to do the Florida ones now. Gee, another project. :) The Nevada folks had a similar idea a while back. See Template:Nevada State Historic Places/Clark as an example. Keep up the good work. Cheers! --Ebyabe (talk) 18:49, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Are you attempting to pattern these after templates for communities (for example, {{Alfalfa County, Oklahoma}})? If so (or even if you're not), you might find it useful to use {{!}} rather than · to separate the listings. Nyttend (talk) 00:54, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Not complaining :-) just wanting to ensure that you weren't unfamiliar with a similar idea. Nyttend (talk) 05:42, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Cities and towns in Oklahoma[edit]

I remember looking up in Oklahoma law the bit that you're citing, about cities being over a thousand people etc. I'm just confused, though, why the Census Bureau had so many of them wrongly: has the state reclassified them since the census? Nyttend (talk) 20:09, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
