From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Traditional China is a general or catch-all term with no fixed or rigorous definition, generally used for the pre-modern period of Chinese history, although such terms as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional Chinese characters, or Traditional Chinese clothing refer to present day use of traditional forms or practices. The term was not found in Traditional China itself, but only came into being in the mid-twentieth century as a contrast to "modern China", itself a general or catch-all term.
