Tony "Verlis" Gatto, is a YouTube content creator based in Seattle, America, who produces fan videos on the subject of the "Pokémon" franchise on his channel, Verlisify. Verlis first created a YouTube account with a friend under the name fisher4930 in 2008, for which he primarily uploaded videos of him performing as a sign spinner for Liberty Tax or amateur videos showcasing home-made costumes based on well-known Pokémon such as Lugia. In February 2013, he created his current channel with more of a focus on official Pokémon content, namely the games and anime, producing videos on news, guides, games showcases and more. As of November 2018 has amassed a significant following of over 430,000 subscribers, making him one of the most well-known YouTubers in the Pokémon community. Despite his success, Verlis has been at the centre of numerous controversies in the Pokémon community due to numerous conflicts with the competitive Pokémon fan website Smogon.com and with other Pokémon Youtubers (or "PokéTubers"). These incidents have earned him a severe degree of notoriety and have contributed to a significant decline in his channel's popularity since its peak in June 2016.
