MiniPlanet is a Facebook-based virtual world game owned by PlayQ and was first opened on 18th June 2009. Initially developed by J-Squared Media and later acquired by PlayQ. The game operates on a Freemium plan were users can opt to purchase MiniPlanet's premium currency, 'Gold' with real world currency.
MiniPlanet allows Facebook users to decorate their pads with furniture and items purchased in the store with MiniPlanet's currencies 'Credits' and 'Gold', change their avatar look, play a selection of 5 mini-games to earn credits, explore the MiniPlanet world with 4 hangouts, make events and meet all other players who play the game on one server. Hangouts include the 'Courtyard', which every player can enter via their front door, the 'M lounge' where players can buy other players drinks to boost their luv, xp and wealth status, the 'park' and the 'casino' where players can gamble their in-game currencies, gold and credits on the MiniPlanet lotto. In recent years the games popularity has declined by some few hundred thousand players, and is predicted to decline even further. The game has been loosing players due to the loading errors and lack of moderation, the games servers have been failing for a number of years which leads to players being unable to play the game.
