Bhartendu ji, the author of the play, Andher

Andher Nagri is the most popular writer of the famous Hindi litterateur Bharatendu Harishchandra. In this of 6 chapters, he is shown to be destroyed by his own deeds, satirizing the prudent and autocratic government system. Bharatendu composed it for the Hindu National Theater in Banaras in a single day.

Plot

This drama is divided into 6 digits. The word visual is used instead of numeral. In the first scene, Mahanta appears with his two disciples who send his disciples Govardhan Das and Narayan Das to a nearby town to beg. They warn Govardhan Das of the evil consequences of greed. The second scene has a view of the city market where everything is being sold in the city. Govardhan Das rejoices to see this kafaiyat of the market and returns to his master with two and a half ser sweets for seven paise.In the third scene, both the disciples return to the Mahant. Narayan Das brings nothing while Gobardhan Das brings two and a half ser sweets. The Mahant becomes alert after hearing the news of Guni and Avaguni getting the same sentiment in the city and asks his disciples to leave the city immediately. They say- "Seth seth sab ek se, jahan kapoor cotton. In such country kudas, do not caulk. Narayan Das agrees to them while Govardhan Das decides to stay there in the temptation of cheap tasty food. The fourth scene depicts the court and justice of the Chaupat Raja of Andher Nagari. On the complaint of drunken King Fariyadi's goat bashing, he starts from the baniya and goes to the Kotwal via artisan, lime, Bhisti, butcher and shepherd and is sentenced to death. In the fifth scene, eating sweets and becoming obese, Govardhan takes Das to hold four soldiers and hang him. They tell him that the goat died so that someone must be hanged for the sake of justice. When the loop of hanging from the neck of the skinny Kotwal emerged, the king ordered to hang any fat.In the sixth scene, preparations to hang Govardhan Das in the cremation are complete. Then his guru Mahant ji comes and gives some mantra in his ear. After this, both the teacher and disciple show a rush to hang. The king, upon hearing that in this auspicious period, will go straight to Baikunth who hangs himself, he orders himself to be hanged. In this way the unjust and foolish king is automatically destroyed.
