Ancient India and Scythians new article content :There is very little written about scythians in the books on ancient India. All that is written is about Indo-Scythians.Indo Scythians were either Yeuchi, Tokharians or later Kushanas. But they all range from BCE 2nd century and Particularly Kushanas from BCE 1st century and AD 1st century. in Puranas, the smriti texts of Hinduism from 2nd century AD, Shakas are mentioned before the advent of Alexander on the North west of India in the fourth century BCE. The only other reference is that of Buddha's clan being called Shakyas. Shridhar Vyankatesh Ketkar in his Maharashtriayan Dnyankosha and his first volume on the ancient History of Maharashtra Mentions that the word shakya means the residents of shakasthana. This he juxtaposes with the Eastern Iranian Shistan. But he fails to give a plausible answer to the question how come the Shistan shakas land abruptly in the eastern part of north India by passing the north western and central parts. This mystery needs to be attacked from many sides. One of them is the global history of Shakas that is Scythians.
