East i is the name given to a six-car Class E926 Shinkansen measurement train operated by the East Japan Railway Company to monitor track and wire conditions across the Tōhoku, Jōetsu, Yamagata, Akita, and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines.

Design[edit]

East i is a modified E3 Series Shinkansen built by the Tokyu Car Corporation in 2001

History[edit]

JR East ordered the construction of the Class E926 in (year) to replace their existing shinkansen measurement train, the Class 925.
