Me, a person.

Hello. My name is Chris Koerner. (My last name is pronounced Ker-ner). I use he/him pronouns. I live on the unceded lands of the Kiikaapoi people in the Midwestern United States. I enjoy photography (recently drone videography), video games, and spending time with my family and friends.

I work at the Wikimedia Foundation as a Senior Movement Communications Specialist.

Previously I worked at Mercy, a non-profit health system based in the mid-western United States. My primary role was working with data-focused co-workers to help provide robust support around the descriptions and definitions of data - which was maintained on a MediaWiki-based wiki that I administered (co-worker support, lots of writing, training, upgrades, etc.). I also helped to administer an internal wiki for the IT department that housed a catalog of every application used, help desk support documentation, and various procedure and technical documents.

I got involved in the Wikimedia movement largely around MediaWiki and its uses in communities outside of Wikimedia. I was an active member of the MediaWiki Stakeholders' Group, a user group of third-party MediaWiki administrators, developers, and users who advocate for using MediaWiki.

I was an active member of the WordPress community. I helped to organize monthly meetups about the software and volunteered as a co-organizer for our yearly all-day conference called WordCamp St. Louis. I occasionally take on clients for small projects related to non-profits and local businesses.

My wife founded a local non-profit animal rescue - St. Louis Pet Rescue. I helped with fundraising, marketing, technology, and web initiatives.
