It's a pleasure and privilege to contribute to Wikipedia. I am a professor of Musicology as well as Arts Entrepreneurship & Leadership (with affiliate appointments in American Culture, African and AfricanAmerican Studies, Non-Profit Management, and Entrepreneurship) at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). I have broad research interests in the Gershwins, patriotic music (especially the U.S. national anthem "The Star-Spangled Banner"), music and politics, music and the Caribbean, and musical institutions, especially American orchestras and Chicago's Auditorium Theater. I am on social media as usmusicscholar (Twitter & Instagram).

I have also been deeply involved in the creation of critical editions of music through two projects: Music of the United States of America and The George and Ira Gershwin Critical Edition.

My University biography page is here. I currently serve as Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs.
