Corporate structure[edit]

Freudenberg is currently owned by approximately 320 descendants of the founder, Carl Johann Freudenberg. The Partners extended the existing Partnership Agreement (articles of association) in July 2015 for another 30 years.[1][2]

The Freudenberg Group consists of the two parent companies Freudenberg & Co. KG as the strategic parent and Freudenberg SE as the parent company responsible for managing business operations. Freudenberg & Co. KG is one of the largest limited partnerships in Germany.[1]

Freudenberg & Co. KG’s bodies are the management board, the board of partners and the general meeting. At Freudenberg SE these are the board of management, the supervisory board and the shareholders meeting. The members of the supervisory board and board of management of Freudenberg SE are the same as those on the board of partners and the management board of Freudenberg & Co. KG respectively.[1]

The chairman of the board of partners is Martin Wentzler. Mohsen Sohi, Tilman Krauch and Ralf Krieger are members of the management board.[3]

Since 2013, Freudenberg is led under the “Strategic Guide” leadership concept: The board of management focuses on developing the Group’s strategy and strategic guidelines, defining strategic planning as well as approving major investments. The operational business is under the responsibility of independent companies and its management. These companies are organized within Freudenberg’s different business groups.[1]

In addition, Freudenberg partners with different companies around the world and holds shares in respective joint ventures. In North America, for example, the Freudenberg-NOK General Partnership headquartered in Plymouth, Michigan, is a joint venture between Freudenberg and Japanese NOK Corporation.[4]
