'Maxime Johnstone
Maxime Johnstone is the founder of the "Seattle Schoolgirls", an organization devoted to raising funds for a school for girls in Afghanistan. The organization began when Maxime asked for donations to the school in place of presents for her seventh birthday. A total of just over $2000 was raised and Maxime and her friends then began selling lemonade at the local Madison Park beach and selling greeting cards to raise funds for the school. They invited the headmistress of the School, CNN Hero Razia Jan, to Seattle for fund-raising events in each of the subsequent years. A total of over $170,000 had been raised as of 1 July 2018. The funds are administered by Razia's Ray of Hope, a 501c3 organization devoted to helping the school in Afghanistan.
