Background[edit]

  • WP:GEOFEAT says "Artificial geographical features that are officially assigned the status of cultural heritage or national heritage, or of any other protected status on a national level and for which verifiable information beyond simple statistics is available, are presumed to be notable". All listed buildings are protected under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
  • Early descriptions were often brief but more recent ones tend to include more information and sometimes other sources.
  • The legislation doesn't refer to grades at all and applies equally to all[1]
  • Parish churches (even the small number not listed at all) are probably inherently notable as there is normally other coverage of them. Country houses are likely to be notable.
  • Public buildings that are listed are likely to be notable.
  • Private houses may well not be notable.
