Farhad Taqaddosi, (1988? - 20 September 2011), was an Iranian camera operator who worked for Iran's Press TV. Taqaddosi was the 21st journalist to be killed in Afghanistan since the 2001 U.S. invasion. Taqaddosi was the 14th international journalist that has been killed.[1][2] He is the only memeber of the Iranian media listed in the CPJ database as killed in Afghanistan War.[3]

Background[edit]
The U.S. embassy and NATO headquarters, both located in a high-protected part of central Kabul, and the nearby Press TV bureau were all damaged by rocket-propelled grenades during the Taliban attacks on 13 September 2011. Taliban militants claimed responsibility for the attacks.[2][13]
Death[edit]
At the time of the attack, Farhad Taqaddosi was working in Press TV bureau in Kabul. He was injured [how?] from an explosion by a rocket-propelled grenade from the Taliban. Taqaddosi died from injuries in a Kabul hospital seven days after after the Taliban attack.[2]
Taqaddosi died in a Kabul hospital from injuries he suffered in the Taliban's September 13 attack on important international buildings in Kabul.[2]

Reactions[edit]
Irina Bokova, director-general of UNESCO, said, "I condemn the killing of Farhad Taqaddosi. The killing of journalists undermines the profession’s ability to carry out its duty to provide first hand information to the public. Freedom of the press is indispensible for our enjoyment of the fundamental human right of freedom of expression. I therefore call on the authorities to do all in their power to ensure better safety for journalists working in Afghanistan.[15]
