Emergency public information is a part of emergency planning and response. It is usually the responsibility of the public information officer (PIO). The main goal of emergency public information is to ensure the public receives timely and useful information during a disaster. This information helps minimize injury to people and damage to property and the environment. Emergency public information also helps to satisfy the wider public's interest and desire to help or seek information.
