ViaViente [1] is a U.S.-based premium nutrition company with a flagship product of the same name.

History[edit]

ViaViente was founded in 1991 by Craig Keeland. [1][2] The company was in Plano, Texas until 2008. Since then, it has been in Henderson, Nevada and managed by CK Management, Plano, Texas.

Keeland, from Texas, received his MBA from the Wharton School of Business. [3] According to the corporate website, the concept for the ViaViente product has a connection to Vilcabamba, Ecuador.

Vilcabamba[edit]

Vilcabamba is a valley in the Andes Mountains in Ecuador. In January 1973, Dr. Alexander Leaf of Harvard Medical School wrote a cover story for National Geographic Magazine about the people of Vilcabamba. In 1981, the Ecuadorian government hired medical journalist Dr. Morton Walker to study the health and longevity of the Vilcabamban people. In his book, Secrets of Long Life [4], Dr. Walker reported that their excellent health may be attributed to the mineral-rich water and diet of local fruits and vegetables.

Product[edit]

ViaViente is a blend of 11 fruit purees and includes mineral spring water sourced from Vilcabamba, Ecuador. [5] The formulation is based on the antioxidant-rich whole food diet and chelated spring water reported to be consumed by the Vilcabambans.

ViaViente includes popular ingredients such as grape, apple, noni, blueberry, cranberry, elderberry, goji, and pomegranate.

According to the corporate website and product label, ViaViente is preservative free and is bottled using aseptic sterilization. ViaViente meets the criteria for a “low sugar” product. It contains natural fruit sugars and no artificial sweeteners. It is gluten and yeast free.

Antioxidants[edit]

ViaViente uses the patented ORAC method to measure antioxidant capacity and certifies its ORAC results using the Brunswick Labs Certified Seal. ViaViente has also been tested with the Total ORAC FN method, which measures against 5 primary free radicals. [6]

A growing body of research establishes the relationship between polyphenolic compounds and health benefits, including research that investigates the correlation between small doses of these compounds and the modulation of critical biochemical agents, such as IL-6, NF-kB, and SIRT1. Growth[edit]

ViaViente’s corporate website reports that the product has been on the market since 2003 and is sold in 26 countries and territories around the world.
