Mincecore ^[1] ^[2] ^[3]

^ Mincecore or sometimes Mince Core, is a sub-genre of Grindcore. The term was coined by the band Agathocles in the late 80's for the style of music Agathocles played. It was later adopted by bands like Rot, Gride, Unholy Grave, The Path, Archagthus, & Malignant Tumour. Most mincecore band are socially and politically aware, and play very raw grindcore. Mincecore bands generally release three or more primitive recording a year. Most release are on vinyl record or cassette tape often sharing releases with other bands on the same vinyl or tape called split. The majority of recording are not done in studios, and the genre is very active in the DIY scene. Often realeasing their own records on their own labels or indie labels. While mincecore evolved from hardcore and grindcore, links to crust, fastcore & Powerviolence can not be denied. The line is often blurred with bands fitting in 3 or 4 genres. Today bands like Dahmer, Mesrine, Sakatat, SMG & Denak even though lyrically not as politically or socially aware are also considered mincecore.

"MINCE CORE is the same as old school grindcore, the way it was in the 80's, raw, minimalistic and socially and politically involved. We took this term MINCE CORE around the end of 80's because sexism, macho behaviour and extreme right political ideologies were getting in the “scene”. That was also the period when « grind » became commercial and mainstream."
^ Still many bands prefer the title grindcore or old school grind. Along with grindcore, mincecore bands are often linked with one or more sub-genres like powerviolence, fastcore, and death metal.
