Typhoon Trami, known as Typhoon Paeng in the Philippines, is a strong tropical cyclone that is currently threatening Japan.

Meteorological History[edit]

On September 19, The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) began to monitor a disturbance near the Mariana Islands. A combination of low wind shear and warm sea surface temperatures led to the system intensifying into a tropical depression on the next day. As the tropical depression crossed the Philippine Sea, it strengthened into a tropical storm, prompting the JMA to issue analyses and designate the system as Trami at 06:00 UTC.
