Hello, I'm Dex![edit]

I love to read, and decided to start working on Wikipedia after realizing I spend about 8 hours reading through it every week. I am an autodidact, and love to follow an idea, noticing connections between it and other things in the world. I have come to conclusion that one thing affects everything else because it is all interconnected.

I am economics student planning on challenging the mainstream neoclassical stranglehold on economics. I am an Austrian Economist, and therefore a heterodox economist. And I am also very interested in the application of nonlinear dynamics to understand market behavior, if only because it seems to be more logical than the calculus-based smoothing out of data to make it simpler to understand.

The way I see it is that if you're going to be implementing economic policy that affects billions of people, then you ought to take a look at all the data you can, and not just ignore certain data because it can't be easily graphed or explained with supply and demand curves. Just because it is easier doesn't make it the right thing to do.

Favorite Quotes[edit]

Economics, as a branch of the more general theory of human action, deals with all human action, i.e., with mans purposive aiming at the attainment of ends chosen, whatever these ends may be. - Ludwig von Mises

“Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidise it” - Ronald Reagan

Favorite Music[edit]

Right now, I am obsessed with Rocco DeLuca and the Burden. Their album, I Trust You to Kill Me, is awesome, and I highly recommend you check it out. I really like small record companies like Ironworks Music because they are filling the demand for better music than the crap signed by the "major" labels. I especially enjoy listening to "Colorful," "How Fast," and "Gravitate."
