Johnson Grammar School is a group of private schools in Hyderabad, India.[1] It was established in 1979 by S.R.N. Mudiraj (1930-2003).

History[edit]

ICSE[edit]

Johnson Grammar School, Warasiguda was established in 1979[2][3] by Johnson Grammar Society of S.R.N. Mudiraj. He was inspired by Dr. Samuel Johnson and established the school as a tribute to him.[4] The original campus, established in 1979 in Warasiguda was affiliated to ICSE, New Delhi. JGS (ICSE) Habsiguda was established in 1983.[2]

CBSE[edit]

Johnson Grammar School (CBSE) was established in the year 2008 in Nacharam by B. Suresh.[5]

B. Suresh established Johnson Grammar School (CBSE) at West Marredpally in the year 2009. It is a co-educational school from Pre-Primary to Class VII. [6]

SSC[edit]

The establishment of SSC-Wing of Johnson Grammar School was initiated by Mudiraj. The first S.S.C branch was established in Habsiguda in 1998 and then in Nacharam in 2000.

The Habsiguda branch is usually considered as the main administrative branch of the school due to its larger strength and larger external participation.[7]

Johnson Grammar School, located in Warasiguda, Secunderabad, is a private middle school. It was established in 1979 by S.R.N Mudiraj. It is now administered by B. Shree Hariee. [3]

Habsiguda[edit]

Johnson Grammar School, located in Habsiguda, was established in the year 1983.[8][2] It has classes running from L.K.G. to VIII. The campus is equipped with facilities like Libraries, Play Area, Science & Computer labs, Language labs, Digital classrooms, etc. [8]

B. Suresh established Johnson Grammar School, affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi in the year 2008. The school is Co-educational from Nursery to Class-XII. [5]

West Marredpally[edit]

B Suresh established Johnson Grammar School at West Marredpally in the year 2009. It is a co-educational school from Pre-Primary to Class VII. [6]

Campus[edit]

Johnson Grammar School's first branch comprises classes of 1 to 7. Johnson Grammar School is located in Raghavendra Nagar of Nacharam. It has a campus of 3 acres. Facilities include a basketball court, a football court and a volleyball court. In addition, it has a large lawn for pre-primary children. Formerly, it even possessed cricket courts though they are now removed. The school once used to have two blocks. One of them is now inactive and the other building was upgraded with the addition of a new floor to accompany the remaining students. Presently, there are two floors in the building with a student strength of at least 3000.

Education[edit]

Johnson Grammar School has classes from LKG to Grade XII . On an average, each class has at least ten sections. Every division has a co-education system. After class 7, students are sent to the Nacharam branch. On an average, there are 30-35 students in a class. Usually, the sections are named as A,B,C... with a maximum up to N. There are at least a hundred teaching staff including one or two P.E.T teachers. There is an in-charge for each of the two floors. Additionally, there are four in-charges one each for Higher, Middle, Lower and Pre-lower classes. The leapstart (mainly P.E.T) personnel are responsible for the discipline of the student body(physical fitness).

SRN Mudiraj Tropy[edit]

An inter-school basketball tournament is held every year on the founder's birthday. The first time it was held was in the academic year 2015-2016. [9] It has been held every academic year since 2015-2016, but it wasn't held in the academic year 2020-2021 because of COVID-19 pandemic.
