Winifred Davies (1916 - 1967) was a missionary nurse from Coedpoeth, near Wrexham. She worked for twenty one years in the Belgian Congo and was captured by rebels in July 1964. On 27th May 1967 she was killed by them while they were escaping from the Congolese National Army, near Kisangani.[1]

She was buried at Kisangani on June 16th.[2] A memorial to her stands at St. Tudfil's Church, Coedpoeth.[3]
