Lieutenant Commander Devdutt Sharma is a serving officer in the Indian Navy and a Guinness Book of World Record holder for 82 consecutive full marathons. He last served as Deputy Electrical Officer of INS Kesari (an amphibious platorm) and Asst Electrical Officer of INS Rana (a destroyer class).
Presently, the officer is posted as Divisional Officer at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
Background:- The officer is a domicile of Hisar, Haryana. He completed his schooling from Govt School, Kharbala, Hisar and engineering from BRCM College of engineering and technology, Bahal, Bhiwani, Haryana. The Officer is a keen fitness enthusiast, yoga practitioner, combat diver, mountaineer and a motivational speaker. He completed his Basic and Advance Mountaineering course from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Manali, Himachal Pradesh.
Guinness Book of World Record:- The officer led Indian Navy's maiden running expedition of 1500 KM (35 Marathon in 35 days) in Delhi-Haryana-Chandigarh region to commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The Officer singlehandedly took charge of the expedition and everyday after running a full marathon, visited more than 70 schools to deliver motivational talks. He interacted more than a lakh youngsters during the course of the expedition. After completion of initial 35 days, he continued his marathon journey and stopped at a count of 82 consecutive full marathon. After 35 marathons, he undertook his marathon journey while carrying out his place duty.
The Officer is a role model for the youngsters and he believes in sheer discipline, dedication and devotion towards his goals.
