Re Airports in the New York Metropolitan Area[edit]

Firstly, one cannot do a cut and paste move they way you did, as it violates the terms o the GFDL and CC-SA licenses that Wikipedia works on. If you objected to my rename, you should have just moved them back over the redirects created by my move. Now the edit history is such that admin would need to fix everything.

Secondly, the title "Aviation in the Port of New York and New Jersey" is terrible. It is severely unlikely to be searched for, as the term "port of New York and New Jersey" is both exceedingly uncommon and describes the sea ports. No one is going to put it in the search box while looking for the airports, "New York Meteopolitan Area" is the most common term to describe the area, which is why the main article on the metro area is at that name. This article should match it.

Thirdly, once I found that afd refered to, the consensus was to merge at precisely that name. Where you came up with the title you gave it I have no idea, but it was not the one the afd consensus pointed to. Still incorrectly done, as claiming a cut and paste move as a merge is a dodge at best. But he point remains that the use of "Port of New York and New Jersey" is a terrible choice and not what the afd called for. "Aviation in the New York metropolitan area" is better if you think "aviation", not "airports" should be the title. Number of Spans for Putlaski Skyway[edit]

There appears to be a discrepancy on the number of spans for the Pulaski Skyway. NJDOT, who has controlling authority over the Pulaski Skyway and will be doing the rehabilitation work on all of the spans for the Pulaski Skyway indicated there are 118 spans based on the 2 links below.

The link that you provided for indicating 108 spans was from the December 2003 submittal for nomination of the historical Route 1 Extension, which includes the current Pulaski Skyway and Route 139, with the National Register of Historic Places. The discrepancy is due to a difference on where NJDOT considers the beginning of the Pulaski Skyway in Jersey City and where authors, who prepared the document for NRHP nomination, considered the beginning. It should be noted that the authors were focused on the entire Route 1 Extension, which includes Pulaski Skyway and Route 139. So, if they were off by a couple of spans that were attributed to the Pulaski Skyway, there would be no repercussion to their submittal to the NRHP.

If NJDOT misses rehabilitating even one span, their repair work will need to be redone.

Removing Citations from Lead of Pulaski Skyway[edit]

Please explain why the citations for NJ Route 1 Extension (Item 1 below), federal register of historic places (Item 1), and NJ State register of historic places (Item 2) were removed from lead of Pulaski Skyway. I thought they were useful citations. The main text of the article no longer identifies NJ Route 1 Extension as being listed on the federal NRHP.

Weehawken Port Imperial[edit]

Claiming "out of place" is POV by stressing that every other railroad station article places it at top. Port imperial is an intermodal hub, and firstly a ferry terminal serviced by light rail and buses, not the other way around. Prioritising a lightly used tram station by placing above other sections (such as intro, history, etc) over a much more heavily used ferry terminal is skewed and a case of the tail wagging the dog. WWOR-TV[edit]

Please stop re-adding the sentence on the "pending license renewal" in the introductory paragraph. We try to limit intros in TV and radio station articles to the basics: call letters, channel/frequency, location, ownership, etc. At best, the "pending license renewal" stuff is miscellaneous in relation to what is included in the intro, and there is a section in the article which explains that issue in-depth. Elevation of Eastern Terminus of Pulaski Skyway[edit]

The Pulaski Skyway crosses over Tonnele Circle and then quickly descends by ramps to grade just west of John F. Kennedy Blvd. "NRHP Registration Application" (PDF). (see p. 50) shows the ramps coming down to grade in the cross section view. "Google Maps". shows the Pulaski Skyway coming down to grade if you zoom in just west of John F. Kennedy Blvd. and go to camera street view and look west at the eastern ramps of the Pulaski Skyway as they climb towards Tonnele Circle.

The NJ DOT is including these ramps that go from grade to passing over the Tonnele Circle as part of the Pulaski Skyway rehabilitation project.

You just revised the Description to the Pulaski Skyway. Why do you think the Skyway does not descend down to grade? Can we change this revision back to the way it originally read?Wondering55 (talk) 04:43, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Why was the sentence below deleted? What do you mean by "cut OR" in your notes for this revision. The database for the National Bridge Inventory identifies the Essex County portion as 3,592 feet long. This statement is based on:

Repositioning Paragraphs in Pulaski Skyway Description Section[edit]

You did an excellent job of editing and condensing issues regarding different versions of overall length and removing unrelated details of Route 139 outside of the Pulaski Skyway boundaries.

I would suggest improving the Featured Article quality by reordering paragraphs to reflect best editing practices with most important and primary information first. I would consider the differences in the overall length of the skyway to be a secondary issue. It would be a good idea to start the lead-in paragraph with the original primary paragraph that we had before since this is what readers would be most interested in. I would suggest the paragraphs be reordered as shown below.

Let me know what you think. Please feel free to proceed in what you think is the best interest of the article.

If you ever want to delete the last paragraph below in the Pulaski Skyway Labor Issues Section, please feel free to do so. The Frank Hague article would seem to be better suited for this material since it seems to have taken place after the construction of the Pulaski Skyway.

Hague refused to allow Brandle and the unions to win, and began to force unions to foreclose through his control of the courts. On the public side, Hague attacked the "labor racketeers" with words, and the local newspapers gladly went along. In 1937 and 1938, Hague turned Jersey City into a police state to fight the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO), which was trying to inform workers of their rights under the 1935 National Labor Relations Act. Socialist Norman Thomas was prevented from speaking in Jersey City and Newark by Hague and his friends.[53] This and other similar cases turned the national spotlight on Hague, and he was attacked by the New Yorker and Life in early 1938. Pulaski Skyway[edit]

Sorry, no. My time is limited, and when I look at the talk page of this article, I see ruffled feathers. My normal response to ruffled feathers is to slowly back up five paces and then head for a calm place elsewhere. In general, it's a good idea to discuss proposed significant changes to a featured article on the article's talk page and to try to reach consensus before making the changes. The editors who worked hard on the original FAC are apt to have a strong interest in the article; consulting them about changes is kind and politic and more efficient than butting heads. I just finished deleting the userspace subpages that you tagged for deletion. FYI, the G7 criterion doesn't necessarily apply to pages in your userspace — it's only for pages that nobody else has edited, so (1) it doesn't apply when someone else has edited the page, and (2) it means that the admin has to check the page history. A simple request: in the future, would you mind tagging such pages with {{db-u1}}? This criterion applies to any page (except talk pages) in your userspace, no matter who else has edited it; I deleted them under this criterion, but it took a little longer because they'd been tagged as something else. Port of Paulsboro mention in Greenwich (Gloucester) article[edit]

In an edit in late July to the article for Greenwich Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, you added a sentence that states that "The Port of Paulsboro, partially located Gibbstown, and is served by the freight rail Penns Grove Secondary and SMS Rail Lines." The sentence appears to be a fragment, and I'm not sure how to properly correct and and exactly how the port and its rail lines are connected to Greenwich and what the appropriate source should be. You recently removed Category:Lists of bridges documented by the Historic American Engineering Record from List of bridges documented by the Historic American Engineering Record in New Jersey, with the explanation "parent cat removed". I don't see how this is a "parent cat" because it doesn't have any subcategories; in fact, it contains similar lists for four other states and the District of Columbia.

It seems as if you might have intended to remove Category:Lists of bridges in the United States instead, since that is the parent of the above-referenced category. Thanks for further updates to this article. One of the citations that you added includes a date format, 2014-02-01, that is inconsistent with the date format for the source dates and retrieval dates, which should have been "February 1, 2014" for the article. I realize that every Wikipedia article does not follow the same date format and it takes a little extra time to try and be consistent when providing citations in so many different Wikipedia articles, but your cooperation would be appreciated. Boraie Development discussion[edit]

I'd rather do this here because I don't know how the AFD will close - if it closes as keep then this can be moved to the article's talk page. First, transparency-wise, the fact that "representative of X" contacted us regarding the article about X is par for the course at OTRS. We serve as a go-between if you will, when the person writing would rather not argue their case on Wikipedia. That doesn't mean we get to bypass or otherwise ignore policies or guidelines. You can see an example of all that here. Now, the general thrust of the communication with OTRS centered around two things: One, removal of the article. Second, they objected to the use of NBT as a source, claiming it was overly biased against the subject. So first I did some research around the bias claims and realized they were probably right. I'll get to that in a bit. Second, by the time I finished making the Sandy funds "controversy" more neutral, and seeing how little real coverage was out there about Boraie, I decided to nominate it for deletion anyway. Not because they asked us to, but because it seemed to me that there simply isn't enough significant coverage to get it past WP:CORP. But that's an issue for the AFD in any case.

Going back to the alleged bias, looking at the NBT articles you want to use as references I definitely object to the way they're contextualized:

  • In the first paragraph 'The firm is one of several companies involved in the redevelopment of downtown New Brunswick you included this. This is a long-winded attack on Boraie: "powerful developer", "The Boraie family is well-known for wheeling and dealing", etc, not to mention vague claims of corruption and so on.
  • For the 390 George Street entry in the list of developments, you used this, which is puzzling since it's an article about some bricks falling off the building, and in any case a primary source can be used just as well. The article includes prose like "the building is owned by notorious developer Omar Boraie"
  • Finally, in the paragraph about the issue with Sandy funding, you used this, which is again full of innuendo but adds nothing that the other sources don't already provide. Like this one as well.

These all seem to be written by the same person. And it's important to point out that this is the only person who seems to think Boraie is "notorious" or "powerful" because I couldn't find anything similar to that from other sources. Now, let's step back for a moment from the company's reps writing OTRS and demanding stuff. If I were to look at these references, in the context in which they are used, I'd probably want to strip them out as well. There's a clear pattern of bias against Boraie (the company and the family) there, and there's nothing in them that can't be supported by other sources in any case. And that's even assuming that the NBT would pass muster as a reliable source. The author might very well be right about all those allegations, and this might be a case of "small town journalist takes on big business and corrupt government" but as of now that's what they are, allegations. By a single, possibly non-reliable source. But that can't be played out in Wikipedia. We're not here to give a wider voice to allegations in local newspapers, we're here to document what available reliable sources say about the topics we cover. Unless you can somehow make the case that an NBT article is absolutely needed in that article, I'd rather we just keep them out completely. And I would also recommend you go back to some of your contributions and re-examine the use of NBT as a source, especially in controversial topics.

WSJ cites[edit]

However, the cites into the Wall Street Journal site are problematic, because of their paywall. Might I suggest using free sites like NJ.com (The Star-Ledger) and NorthJersey.com (The Record), when they have equivalent content?

I also suggest using the Cite > Templates > Cite News mechanism (in the Wikipedia editor) to insert a reference/cite, to easily give the article title, author, date, and even a reference name (so the cite can be shared at a different spot in the Bridgegate article). I find this formatted cite to be nore useful than a bare URL.

Is Frenchtown Solar in Frenchtown, Kingwood or both?[edit]

I was looking at your recent edits to the articles for Frenchtown, New Jersey and Kingwood Township, New Jersey, which added details about Frenchtown Solar. The sources in the solar farm article are all from the developer and the sources for each of the three components all place the locations in Frenchtown. I was looking for something in an independent source about the project and found this item, which places the facility in Kingwood. Frenchtown is a pretty compact and densely populated municipality at a bit over 1.3 square miles, while Kingwood is 35 square miles and lightly populated. It could be actually IN Frenchtown or it could be NEAR Frenchtown and it could be in both places, but the sources are ambiguous. There should be details added and clarification provided in the Frenchtown / Kingwood articles regarding the location (or locations), with a reliable and verifiable source provided. Thanks for doing the research and pinning down the location. I saw the updates to the Kingwood and Baptistown articles, and I agree that it should be removed from the article for Frenchtown or at least clarified. This phenomenon is nothing new, and I'm always partially baffled by old-time biographies that say that someone was raised near Fooville, and you don't know whether that means in Fooville itself or in the surrounding Yokelsburg Township.
