The Riverbend is a district at the southern end of Harrison, New Jersey at the knee, or bend, in the Passaic River in western part of Hudson County. It lies across from the Downtown Newark between the Jackson Street Bridge and the Bridge Street Bridge[1] in the vicinity of the Newark–World Trade Center line of the PATH rail system and the Northeast Corridor, which both make use of the Dock Bridge. Red Bull Arena, opened in 2010, anchors the east side of the neighborhood.[2][3][4][5][6] Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard (County Route 697), named for the town's long-term mayor, is the district's main thoroughfare.

Since the millennium, the southern part of Harrison has seen a major increase in development and population and has gone from being an industrial area to a transit-oriented residential and commercial neighborhood.[9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21] [22] One of the new projects expecting to be built in 2019 will include Harrison's tallest building, the 20 story NOG.[23]
Waterfront access[edit]
The redevelopment will eventuaully provide more access to the city's waterfront.[24][25] Part of the neighborhood is a former PSEG gas manufacturing site, undergoing remediaton.[26], once home to an iconic gasholder.[27]
flood protection[29] [30] The area along the river south of the the arena opposite Newark Riverfront Park is slated for green use.[31]
Transportation[edit]
Since 1911 it has been a Harrison stop on the rapid transit system now known as PATH.[32] [33] Between 1904 and 1984 the area was also served by rail at the Harrison station of the Morris & Essex Lines.
NJ Transit bus 40[34] serves the district.
The Jackson Street Bridge and Bridge Street Bridge connect the neighborhood to the Ironbound in Newark and and the to Dowtown in Newark.
Frank E. Rodgers Boulevard (County Route 697), named for the town's long-term mayor, is the district's main thoroughfare. The Belleville Turnpike, County Route 507 and County Route 508 pass through or nearby the district.

Another Riverbend in Hudson County (40°44′17″N 74°06′26″W / 40.738088°N 74.107161°W) along the banks of the Hackensack River and is part of the New Jersey Meadowlands. As its name suggests it lies at a meander (in this case a "S' curve) in the Hackensack between the New Jersey Turnpike Eastern Spur and where the Belleville Turnpike and the Newark-Jersey City Turnpike converge to cross the Wittpenn Bridge. In the river not far from the mouth of the tributary Penhorn Creek is the point where the municipal borders of Jersey City, Secaucus, and Kearny meet.
