Keith Elliot Dennett P.E. Ph.D., is an American civil engineer specializing in hydraulic engineering. He is currently a professor at the University of Nevada, Reno(UNR).[1]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Dennett was born in Florida along with his twin sister, who is the same age as him, in the 1960s(??). His family moved from Florida to Alabama to Tennessee where he was raised from the age of 5, along with his twin sister, and younger sister in a small town of population under 200 in Tennessee. After high school, Dennett studied at the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in 1988. After graduation, Dennett moved to central Florida to work as a private consultant. He soon after became discouraged with private industry and returned to school at Georgia Tech, where he studied Environmental Engineering and received a masters degree in 1990, and Ph.D. degrees in 1995 with a minor in Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics.[2]

Career at UNR[edit]

In 1996, Dennett accepted a position as Assistant Professor at UNR. In 2003 he was promoted to Associate Professor. He serves as faculty advisor for the UNR chapter of Engineers Without Borders, and has supervised several trips to Guatemala, Panama, and India with students to work on various construction projects. He also serves on the differential fees committee.

Personal Life[edit]

Dennett is single and has no children. He lives with his 3.25 year old Golden Retriever. He enjoys cooking, household renovations, motorcycling, white water rafting, and gardening. His favorite meal to cook is catfish with cream of shrimp soup, that he gets imported from Tennessee. He enjoys tending to his yard, which has xenoscaping, as well as the numerous plants in his office and home. His favorite plant is the tomato plant.
