What's Insubre?[edit]
Insubres or Insubrians was a celt (gaulish) population in Northern Italy (Gallia Cisalpina) before romanian domination. There living area was aproximatly Western Lombardy, with the capital Medhelan. In Middle age its autonomy returned and Insubria was definated in Milanese Dukedome.
Now Insubria is an historical/cultural region who native peoples speeking Western Lombard (or Insubric/Insubrian) dialect, and the territory including two piedmontese eastern provinces, eight lombard western provinces and a swiss canton:
- Province of Varese
- Province of Como
- Province of Lecco
- Province of Sondrio
- Province of Monza e Brianza
- Province of Milan
- Province of Pavia
- Province of Lodi
