About Me

This user is currently working on
Geat-related Articles.

I am Doctor Hesselius from the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Northumbria, I live in the modern English county of Northumberland. I am a friend of the user Sigurd Dragon Slayer. I am interested in Germanic culture, mythology and history, theism, psychology and many other subjects. I can mainly be found in articles connected to the Germanic people that the English know as Geats (Norse: Goutar. Swedish: Götarnna). The Geats are my favourite Germanic tribe due to my exposer to Beowulf at an early age (before I was six!) though they have a joint favourite in the form of the Angles who settled in Northumbria.

If I die before completing my goal, I would like people to continue my 'legacy' in Geat-related articles!!!!

I am also interested in counter-culture and regard myself as a 'Hippy' (or what others regard as a 'Hippy'). I do not believe in race. I know there is one human race not many different human races.

My favourite musical groups are ABBA (I have somewhat of a 'crush' on Anni-Frid Lyngstad but I also like Agnetha Fältskog...it is a coincidence that Miss Fältskog is from historical Geatland!), Queen, The Beatles, The Who, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath and many other Rock and Roll bands.

Which leads me on to a big annoyance of mine. I hate it when people say 'Pop' is a genre or at least a different genre to Rock...no it is not. 'Pop' is in really just 'Popular Music', meaning anything that was popular at the time. Rock is 'Rock and Roll' it was indeed popular music throughout 60s, 70s and the early 80s and still some Rock bands are popular. Rock music has subcategories but they are all Rock and Roll. ABBA and the Beatles are 'Popular Rock Bands' not just 'Pop bands', they are different from Eminem who is also Pop (as Rap and Hip Hop are the popular music of recent years) and he certainly is nothing like ABBA or the Beatles thus making peoples claims that 'Pop' is its own genre rather silly. Queen is one of the most popular bands ever (and rightfully so!) and is also thus 'Pop' but you cannot deny that they are Rock! Musical snobbery by a lot of Rock fans (myself and others excluded!) is ruining music for me. I hate trying to explain that ABBA and the Beatles are Rock and Roll bands!
