ROAR 1:8 Fuel Off-Road National Championship, otherwise ROAR Fuel Off-Road Nationals in short, is a radio-controlled racing championship taking place in North America sanctioned by Remotely Operated Auto Racers (ROAR)
It is part of the ROAR RMT (Race Management Team) National Championships, a Level 5 event as defined by ROAR, making it the premier national championship[1] and the most important of all the nitro races in North America. Like the IFMAR Worlds, the A-main race run for 60 minutes.
The inaugural Nationals took place in 1997, later than a majority of national championships (that a majority of them began in the early-mid 1980s), largely due to that the market for nitro buggies did not take off until that point and the increasing attendance of American drivers at the IFMAR Worlds.
The event is open exclusively to 1:8 scale nitro powered off-road buggies, characterized by its large wheels designed for off-road driving and enclosed single-seater bodyshell with large rear spoiler. cutout exposing its glowplug engine
Adam Drake of Fontana, California and Ty Tessmann of Medicine Hat, Alberta tie for the most wins with three each, Kyosho holds the most titles for car brands with six wins and O.S. Engines holds the most wins for a model engine brand with eight wins.
Spencer Rivkin of Surprise, Arizona is the current champion in 2016
