Ajay Prakash (Andhra: born 01 August 1974) in Vijayawada is an Indian Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist, researcher, biologist, and author. He is best known for his Publication Lip prints (cheiloscopy)..[1]

After completing secondary school education, Ajay Prakash studied Bachelor of Dental Surgery,1997, in KGF Dental College[2] from Bangalore University and Master of Dental Surgery in Oral Pathology, 2001, in MEENAKSHI AMMAL DENTAL COLLEGE & HOSPITAL (MADCH)[3], from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and currently working as Professor, College of Health Sciences, Wachemo University[1][4], Ethiopia with Ministry of Education Ethiopia.

Ajay Prakash is described as part of the select group of doctors-writers (Research Methodology and Revolutions in AI, Human Anatomy and Physiology I[5]) Who have” transformed the research on global sciences and human health”, and also allowed a generation of readers a rare and intimate glimpse into the life of science, medicine, and Dentistry. His research concerns the Oral Cancer cell, HIV / AIDS, Odontogenic Tumour diagnostics, Forensic Odontology / Molecular Biology / Immunology DNA Finger Printing, etc. Indian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologists awarded DR . R.M. Mathur Best Publication Award, Certificate of Merit, Vol.VIII, Issue 1, 2004, [6]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Ajay Prakash was born to a Saliva Hana community in Vijayawada, India. His Father P.S. Rama Murthy was a Police officer with Andhra Pradesh Government and his mother P.S. Uma Rani, was a Housewife. He worked on research on P53 Expressions in Oral Cancer, with Biochemistry under  Anjali A. Karande - Professor - Indian Institute of Science[7] and also worked on DNA Finger Printing in Human Dental Pulp with PCR, SSCP, and also Amelogenin gene expressions, HLA DQ α gene Expressions with Molecular Biology applications under  Dr. GV Rao[8] in CDFD.

Career[edit]

In 2001, Ajay Prakash  joined the faculty of the Department of Dentistry   in the Division of Oral Pathology / Microbiology at the K.G.F College of Dental Sciences[9] from Bangalore University  as an Assistant Professor and Later joined as Reader in Kamineni Institute of Dental Sciences[10], Narketpally from Dr. Y.S.R. Medical University[11], Vijayawada, India, he was affiliated with Dr. Y.S.R. Medical University, along with Kamineni Institute of Dental Sciences, under the division of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology worked on Scorching effects of heat on extracted teeth-A forensic view,  A comparative immunohistochemical analysis of langerhans cells in oral mucosa, oral lichen planus and oral squamous cell carcinoma, Lip outline: A new paradigm in forensic sciences[12], Effects of different concentrations of fluoride in oral mucosal cells in albino rats[13]. His Laboratory is based at the Department of  Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Kamineni Institute of Dental Sciences, Narketpally.

Contributions[edit]

Cancer Research[edit]

Ajay Prakash is a trained oral pathologist and oral oncologist whose research focuses on the links between normal cells and cancer cells. Through his results, he had shown the presence of role of langerhans  cells in oral mucosa, oral lichen planus and oral squamous cell carcinoma,p53[14] expressions in oral squamous cell carcinoma, and Pre-cancerous lesions. He has investigated, Microenvironment – A Role in Tumour Progression and Prognosis[15], and mechanisms involved in tumor progression and invasiveness toward metastasis could be essential to improve efficacy of current therapeutic interventions with significant clinical impact.

Forensic Dentistry[edit]

Ajay Prakash is also known for defining and characterizing the teeth' role in Forensic Dental Science, also the role of  Lip prints (cheiloscopy). Lip outline forensic sciences in Forensic Dentistry.

In 2014, he prospectively identified the Lip outline: A new paradigm in forensic sciences , study was to assess the distribution of lip outline patterns among males and females and to evaluate the uniqueness of lip outline patterns.

In 2015, he also studied and observed Scorching effects of heat on extracted teeth-A forensic view, investigated structural damage in freshly extracted teeth to heating, at different temperatures for a certain length of time in the laboratory, Evaluated the incinerated dental remains may provide additional forensic investigative avenues in victim identification because of the consistency of morphological changes, the histological patterns at temperatures that are commonly encountered in common domestic fires.

In 1999, studied and researched Lip prints (cheiloscopy). External surface of the lip has many elevations and depressions forming a characteristic pattern called lip prints, examination of which is referred to as cheiloscopy. This is unique for individuals like the finger prints. This characteristic pattern helps to identify the individuals since it is unique for individuals. When the lines are not clear (Only the shape of lines is printed), individual identification of human being based on this trace is extremely difficult, unless the trace contains more individual characteristics like scars, clefts etc, and often identification ends with group identification.
