Lucinda Belle (born Lucinda Barry, 1974) is a singer, harpist and songwriter from London UK. Belle signed to Island Records in 2009 after being spotted performing with Robbie Williams, and appeared in the UK media in March 2010 as a result of having to sell her laundrette to concentrate on her music career. She will release her debut album in Spring 2010.
Belle started playing the harp at the age of six, and later joined the National Children's Orchestra. After completing a degree in International Relations at Goldsmiths, she went on to play the harp professionally, performing and recording with artists including Pet Shop Boys, Rufus Wainwright, Annie Lennox and Missy Elliot.
In October 2009 Lucinda was spotted performing with Robbie Williams at the BBC Electric Proms. Fearne Cotton invited Belle to perform on her Radio 1 show, which brought her to the attention of Universal Records, with whom she signed a record deal.
Belle also owns a laundrette in Balham, London which was a family heirloom. When Belle announced that she was putting the laundrette up for sale to concentrate on her music career, the story appeared in the Daily Telegraph[1], Daily Mail[2], Evening Standard[3], The Sun and The Mirror[4]. She also appeared on BBC Breakfast[5].
Her debut album 'My Voice and 45 Strings' will be released in Spring 2010, and includes co-writes with Graham Lyle and Ed Harcourt.
