Dylan Loughran [ born 5 February 1953] is a Irish singer and musician. Loughran was born in Dublin, Ireland and moved to Drogheda, County Louth where he grew up. he is famous for hit singles such as the love I have frozen soul and strangers on this island. he appeared for a short stint on RTE drama Glenroe in September 1983. he is best known for his brown mullet and biker jacket seen in his music videos. he was rumoured to attend the live aid concert in July 1985 but didn't appear. 5 months it was revealed he suffered a stomach bug couldn't attend. he is good friends with fellow Irish radio and television broadcaster Aine Lawlor.

Early Life and Career[edit]

Loughran was born in the Rotunda Hospital on 5 February 1953. shortly after his birth he moved with his family to Drogheda, County Louth. in a interview in 2006 he said I don't remember much of Dublin. I do visit there on occasions. I don't even remember much of the hospital. I was only there for 4 or 5 months before I moved up to Drogheda. his mother Judy [ Ńee McDonald] was a nurse and his father Jackson Loughran ran a local car wash. he was raised Catholic. he went to the local primary school. St Mary's parish primary school in Drogheda and then attended Saint Josephs Secondary School. he got a Saturday job working at his local newsagents which he described as very crap.

Personal Life[edit]

Loughran married Irish Journalist Marie Loughran [Ńee O' Callaghan] in December 1979. the couple have two children: sons Rafael [ born 4 March 1982] and Edward [ 21st August 1984]. they couple lived in Los Angeles.

Loughran was arrested in October 1999 for drink driving after following a near collision in Dundalk. he was released without charge.

in 2012 Loughran announced his split from wife Marie, they both remain good friends.
