In the beginning: The formative years of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is a memoir written by William (Bill) Proudman in 2017 to celebrate the iconic South Australian institution's 60th anniversary the following year.

A foundation member of the Adelaide suburban hospital, Bill Proudman was head of the 'donor' team responsible for Australia's first successful live kidney transplant team in 1965.

The book is 'an insight into the evolution of a medical institution and the personalities who shaped the hospital's character'.
